Keith and Jan Wiggers will be sharing six weeks of travel in Ethiopia. Their video and stills of this Texas-sized African country will acquaint you with the great diversity of its land forms, wildlife, and people. One can travel from one of the lowest and hottest places on earth to over 15,000 feet in the Simien Mountains. The waters of the Blue Nile River originate from these highlands.Ethiopia has a rich, and ancient, history. It was in the east African Rift Valley where the oldest hominid fossils, including Lucy, have been found.The Wiggers will be showing people, landscapes and some of the 843 species of the country’s birds, as well as a few of the unique and endemic mammals, such as the Gelada, the Walia Ibex and the Ethiopian Wolf.
