Skagit Audubon

Watching birds, protecting habitat, connecting with nature

Northern State Recreation Area and Marsh

Date: Sat. May 11, 2019 8:00 am - 1:00 pm
Duration: 5 Hours

Meet at the corner of Helmick Rd. and State Route 20. From there after an hour or so looking at (or for) American Bitterns, Red-winged Blackbirds, Marsh Wrens, Canada Geese, Mallards, Ring-necked Ducks, we’ll go to the parking lot by the Veterans Community Picnic Shelter and hike the gravel trail/road over to Hansen Creek area and Fruitdale Road wetland. Plan to finish up around 1:00pm. Dress appropriately; bring snacks, binoculars, scopes and an expectant attitude and open ears. The bird song may be great. It’s a fine way to celebrate International Migratory Bird Day.
