Barnaby Slough is a complex of oxbow wetlands on the south side of the Skagit River east of Rockport. It’s a great place to see neotropical migrants such as warblers, flycatchers, tanagers, and vireos. Wetland birds including grebes, herons, and rails are possible. Meet at 8:30 am at the turnoff to the old fish hatchery on Martin Ranch Road (full directions available at link below or on our website/field trips). Bring binoculars, a scope if you have one, sturdy shoes, and snacks. Dress for the weather. We will be walking on level, unpaved roads and paths. Round-trip distance: 1.7 miles. Note that the nearest restroom is at Howard Miller Steelhead Park in Rockport. Please register using this SignUp Genius Link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C094BA4AF28A4F4C16-48826083-birding.
