Birding Field Trip-Ted Reep Trail-Mt. Vernon

Date: Sun. Apr 28, 2024 8:30 am - 11:30 am

Sunday, April 28, 2024 – Ted Reep Trail, Mt. Vernon – 8:30 am-11:30 am

Trip Leader:  Lisa Hopkins (pre-registration required; see below)

For more information contact:  Lisa Hopkins, finance@skagitaudubon.org

This trail parallels the Skagit River in north Mount Vernon and was opened as an official city trail a few years ago.  Although relatively unknown as a birding area, a wide variety of birds can be seen here, including waterfowl, raptors, woodpeckers and, of course, songbirds and spring migrants.  Please be prepared to walk two or more miles to the far end of the trail and back.  No bathrooms are available.

Binoculars are a must; scopes are optional.  You should be prepared for very muddy conditions. The trip leader will scout the trail in the week before and provide an update on trail conditions to all registered participants.  Park in the west side of the YMCA parking lot.  The address is 1901 Hoag Road, Mount Vernon, WA.  From I-5, take exit 227 – College Way, heading east.  Turn left on N. LaVenture.  Continue to the second traffic light at Hoag Road and turn left.  Go past the church.  The YMCA will be on your right.
