Birding Field Trip-Blaine, Semiahmoo and Birch Bay

December 15, 2024 – Blaine, Semiahmoo and Birch Bay – 9 am – 2 pm

Trip Leaders: Colleen Shannon and Jeff Osmundson; fieldtrips@skagitaudubon.org

(Pre-registration required, see below)

We will be visiting Blaine, Semiahmoo and maybe Birch Bay for water birds and any land birds we encounter along the way. We will begin the trip at the first overlook on the right hand side of the road as you drive into the Blaine harbor area.  From Blaine, we will go to Semiahmoo, then Birch Bay if time.  We will be looking for our winter water residents, with target birds, long-tailed ducks, eared and western  grebes, black scoters, and hopefully oystercatchers and turnstones.  If you have a scope, please bring it as most of the birds we will be viewing are far out.  Dress for rain, wind, and cold then if the weather is decent, it will be a nice surprise.  Remember your food and drink.  The trip will be limited to 15 due to parking at some of the areas.  Carpooling is suggested to limit the number of cars.  Remember to mask if you are carpooling.  To sign up click the link below:
