Sunday, Sept. 8th – Shorebirds at Fir Island Farm – 10:30 am until 12:30 pm

Join Paul for a field trip to Fir Island Farms where we should see the usual suspects--least and western sandpipers, both yellowlegs, dowitchers, killdeer, ducks, geese, gulls and terns--and, if we're lucky, black-bellied and semipalmated plovers. Other possibilities include Baird's, spotted and pectoral sandpipers or rarities like stilt or sharp-tailed sandpipers and red knot--and don't forget the bald eagles, northern harriers and peregrine or merlin falcons that find all this potential food irresistible.

 Bring binoculars and a scope if you have one; the birds are often quite distant.  A Discover Pass is required for parking at Fir Island Farm.
